Founded in 1984 as an engineering consulting firm, Transitair – TTA quickly grew into one of passenger-rail industry’s leading manufacturer and supplier of wide variety of Systems & Components and Services. Products and Services are provided as Prime and/or Sub-Contractor to most of the leading Transit Properties and OEM’s in North America.
Much of our uninterrupted record of success is owed to the experience, knowledge and dedication of our workforce. The location in Western New York State is long known for its rail excellence and some of the country’s most talented railcar workers.
Facilities
Transitair – TTA has established and operated multiple car and component assembly and manufacturing facilities throughout USA. This was accomplished through three permanent facilities and several satellite “project” facilities. This unique dual approach has enabled us to maintain a constant center of “rail technology excellence”, as well as the flexibilities needed to effectively and rapidly address “localization & shipping” requirements for geographically dispersed railcar projects. The permanent facilities have recently been consolidated into a single expanded facility in Hornell, NY.
The project facilities are set up temporarily for 3-5 years on brown-field basis and vacated when the local project(s) are complete. Each site may employ 50-200 employees, locally hired, and trained by the “swat team” from our permanent facility. Nearly 20 such operations have been successfully established and operated over the last 40 years throughout the country.
